Missy's Muses

December 22, 2005 I know this date is out of order, but I just got this picture to finally post.

Here I am after losing 79 pounds. I have been on Nutrisystem for 13 weeks in this photo! I am continuing to do well.

Saturday, December 31, 2005 - New Year's Eve - The last day of 2005! I am now 83 pounds lighter! I have Nutrisystem meals already packed for the whole day in the refrigerator except for a banana and some low calorie/low Glycemic Index vanilla wafers or similar substitute that I am going to look for at Krogers in a few minutes. I am so excited! I have upped my exercise daily from 2 miles to 4 miles, by doing Leslie Sansone's Two Mile Walk once in the morning and once in the evening! I am so looking forward to the New Year, which is a real departure from my usual self. I have often dreaded New Year's Eve, because it seemed like a time to look back at all I had not accomplished. It has been better since I have had the children. Now it is really great! I am excited about my ability to do more and more for God! I am eagerly walking down this path to becoming ready to go to the mission field (if but for a brief 7-9 days) in Nicaragua in June with Joe. I am endeavoring to learn more Spanish, become more fit, memorize Spanish hymns, and memorize Spanish Bible verses. Vaya con Dios!

12-30-05 Got up this morning and I'm down another 2 pounds to 284. That means a total loss of 81 pounds! I changed my Nutribear on my profile to the 80 pound bear! Hooray! I stayed very late at Mom's working on the State flower and bird puzzle I bought at the Indianapolis Botanical Gardens. It is quite fun, but challenging. I knew that a lot of states had the Cardinal as a state bird, but I was unaware that so many had the Western Meadowlark, as well as one with the Meadowlark. I am learning many things!

Christmas at Indy Botanical Garden

Joseph, Timothy, me, and Daniel in front of the Christmas tree at the Indianapolis Botanical Gardens on December 27. We completed the Scavenger Hunt and voted on our favorite Poinsettias.

Trip to Indianapolis

My sons, Timothy, 18, Daniel, 17, and Joseph, 13, and I went to Indianapolis on Tuesday, December 27. It's about 2 hours from where we live. We had planned to meet friends at the zoo at 10 AM. We didn't realize until right before we arrived that the zoo doesn't open in December until 12 NOON. So we went to the Indianapolis Children's Museum which opened at 10. We used Christmas money from an old college friend to buy a family pass good for a year. We went to the Dinosphere and a few exhibits on the LL then up to the food court for the boys to eat. Then we headed to the zoo, hoping to meet our friends at noon. I checked the boys into the zoo, then went back to sit in the van and eat my Nutrisystem lunch and keep an eye out for Jenni and her teens. Never did spot them. Turns out that Jenni had been sick for the past few days and lost track of the time. We will try to get together in Indy some other time. We walked all over the zoo. Many of the animals were inside and we were not able to see them, but there were plenty there to keep us busy. Then we went to the Botanical Gardens and did the Scavenger Hunt. We didn't think we would ever find the Birdsnest Fern, but we finally found it along the side wall on the ground. We were fascinated by the pronghorn fern and the bears' paw fern and if I had not been so tired it might have occurred to me to take a photo of them. I voted on a few of the poinsettas on display, but many of them looked all the same. We finally decided we were too tired and we decided to go home. It was a very good, but footsore day! I sure do love spending time with my boys. I got a States' birds and flowers puzzle at the Botanical Gardens' store and took it over to my mom's about 9:30 Tuesday night and we started working on the 1000 piece picture, but it got late and I went home to bed. This morning I worked on getting the photos processed and walking my 2 miles and writing Christmas thank you's and getting my sons to do the same. It is late now and I need to go to bed. Hope all is well with you!

My Journey to Finding Myself

On September 22, 2005 I started a new way of eating courtesy of Nutrisystem. I was not too thrilled with the fact that the food was not frozen as I had been expecting, but I had ordered the 4 week program with 1 week of additional free food, so I figured I should give it a go. I started off following it to the letter and I have not regretted it since. It is now 12 weeks, 3 days later and I am 77 pounds lighter. I still have a long way to go since I began at 365 pounds, but I tell you going into 2006 at 288 or lighter is a great way to begin the year. I have met my Christmas goal. I have met my New Year goal. Now my goal is to lose my 13 year old son. He currently weighs 88. I hope to lose that before he weighs 89, but my goal will adjusts as he gains. I hope to weigh at least 100 less pounds by the time I am 50, which will be in another 3 and 1/2 months. That would be 23 more pounds and if I can continue to less weight at a good rate, it will happen. I went into this whole thing figuring it would take me 2 and 1/2 years to get to my goal of 115. I still am going to stick with that plan, as it seems unreasonable to think I will be able to continue to drop as I have lately. Time will tell.
