Trying once again to manage my weight and A1C

Weight is so difficult to control. I got up to my all time high of 365 on 9/21/05. I went on Nutrisystem and was so compliant that I lost 147 pounds in 10 months. Even though I still weighed over 200 I was told by my doctor to put some back on. I regained almost 100 pounds. I'm thankful I have managed to keep it around 300, but know I need to REALLY lose it. I will go down 20 or so and then gain it all back. I am only 5'1" tall, so I am always mortally obese. I would love to get down to merely being obese (that would be 211). I tried Nutrisystem again but they have changed the formulas for their food adding in lots of omega-3 from fish oil which I cannot handle. I get my omega-3 from nuts and I love fish, but I can't digest the fish oil.

At the doctor on July 29. Weighed 303 pounds, the highest I have been since I was 304 on Nov 11, 2012. That makes it sound like I'm not doing bad, but I was down to 270 on Oct 31, 2013 and have been steadily climbing. I have gained 10 pounds in the last 6 months. I really need to get this turned around. My A1c on July 29 was 9.4, which is also up from Apr 22 A1c of 8.0

I have a new Care Manager named Natalie. She spent some time talking to me on the phone on Friday, Aug 5 and it helps. I often feel like anyone who understands the medical aspects, doesn't care enough to take the time to talk to me. My goals for now are: (1) to increase my Solostar injections by 2 units until I am up to 46, which will be tomorrow night, and level off there (2) test my blood glucose once a day or every other day (3) limit carbs better.

I am going to weigh more regularly as that is something I haven't done in quite a while as I lost the bathroom scale. I bought a new one! I usually do a better job of cutting back on carbs when I weigh once or twice a week. (I get obsessive if I weigh EVERY day.)

My brother's grandchildren: Hunter and Gabriel.
I teach them Monday thru Friday.
I need to get healthy for myself and the grandchildren. Here are some pictures.

My granddaughter Lailyn turned 4 months old on Aug 5th.
I keep her when her parents have to work.
Usually a few times a week.
My great nephews and I were at Kroger.
We ran into my grandchildren
Carson and Madeline.
My youngest grandson Elijah.
He comes over every Tuesday evening
so Mommy and Daddy can have some alone
time and he and I can have some FUN time.
He will be 1 on Aug 12.

Progress is slow but steady!

My doctor's appointment last Thursday went well. I'd lost 25 pounds since I was last there. I got the results today of my a1c. It is 6.8. I'm happy with that. I'd like it to be 6.5, but my doctor thinks that is too low and wants it at 7.0, so I'm willing to compromise! I have been working on decluttering my dining room and organizing my great-nephews' and grandchildren's clothes. I'm still not quite finished, but I did get a 5 drawer chest moved in there beside the changing table and I have the floor completely exposed! Yeah! Progress on multiple fronts.

Sehara's soccer game

It was so great to walk across Osborne Park to Sehara's soccer game and see not only Jenni, Carson, and Madeline, but also my 80 year old mother and Dan and Amanda. I know that Jenni was happy to have more of the family there with her to cheer on Sehara. I am glad I was able to make a few pictures and a few videos. These are memories worth documenting. I was not able to stay past the half time. The pollen count was up. I had my face mask and my long-sleeve hooded jacket and that helped, but not for as long as I wanted. Sehara played hard and I am very proud of how she is doing! She had already had swimming lessons and dance this morning, so I know she had to be tired, but she didn't show it! It was chilly out, but at least it wasn't rained out! I had fun.

Thank You, Lord

"Thank You, Lord, for loving me. Thank You, Lord, for blessing me. Thank You, Lord, making me whole and saving my soul. I want to thank You, Lord, for loving me. Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul." Thank You, Lord, for bringing my new little granddaughter safely into this world! Thank You for blessing me with my sweet 9 year old granddaughter who is so happy and excited to have a little baby sister. Thank You for her excitement over having another tea party with her grandmother! Thank You for a loving daughter-in-law who entrusts me with the care of her children. Thank you to anyone who reads this and lifta up prayers for my family. We continue to solicit your prayers for God's watch care over all of us.

Praying without Ceasing

I find myself with a heavy heart and I hope it will help to share with others. My little granddaughter in the womb has stopped growing. The doctor tells her mom that she is still healthy and will be here within the week. Please pray for her. I find my energy levels on a roller coaster. One minute I can pick up boxes and move chairs and vacuum and clean and the next I can't even open the mail. I have something dead in my garage and I can't find it. I know God loves and blesses me and I want to draw on His strength. I need to focus on the Savior and take a moment at a time. Back to my lists! That will help! Back to my strength in God's word. I haven't been studying like I should! God, You know I have been talking to You! I need to be listening to You in Your word as well! I love You. Too much "I" and "my" in these last 15 sentences. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. — 2 Peter 1:5-7

Busy Month

I finished up 2 on-line Economics courses. Gabriel and I watched Melanie's graduation online - very crowded there, not enough tickets! Then we had Gabriel's 2 year old Train Birthday party. Then we had Daniel and Amanda's rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, wedding and they were off to Disney World for their honeymoon! Then Father's Day dinner with Timothy, Jenni, Sehara, Carson, Joe, and Gabriel. Jenni decided to tell Sehara about her expectant sibling! Yay! So we get to talk about it now! We released the butterflies in Mom and Dad's backyard along with Mya. We bought a bigger cage and moved the three 3 week old quail into it and moved the 2 newly hatched quail into the 20 gallon aquarium/brooder. Took care of Zachary for Jeanine. Watched movies and played games with Sehara. Sent Daniel a happy birthday message on his birthday. Gabriel and I drove Jenni, Sehara, and Carson to Cincinnati and met up with Jenni's Aunt and Mom, who drove them onto Buckner. Up-graded the house to whole house HD-DVR. (I'm really liking it.) Gabriel loved following the installer all over the house. Kept Gabe for Melanie's birthday dinner with Rickey. Daniel and Amanda called - they are on their way back. Gave Melanie her birthday present. She really liked it! Still a week of June left to go! Who knows what else will come up!
