May 8, 2011 Mother's Day
What a wonderful Mother's Day I have had!!! The day began with worship at Berea church of Christ with both of my parents (Ray and Patsy), all 3 of my sons (Timothy, Daniel, and Joseph), my daughter-in-law (Jennifer), my granddaughter (Sehara), my unborn grandson (Carson), my future daughter-in-law (Amanda), my niece (Melanie), her husband (Rickey), my great-nephew (Gabriel), my brother (Don) and my sister-in-law (Dee). We had a quick lunch with my sons and their families in our hotel room, then off to Timothy's graduation from Berea College. In addition to everyone above we were joined by my nephew (Adam) and his wife (Jeanine) and her grandfather (Fay) and my unborn great-nephew (Zachary), as well as ~10 of my daughter-in-law's family with everyone sitting together. We ALL then drove to Carrabba's in Lexington for a fabulous, laughing, meeting, talking, sharing dinner, that we reluctantly brought to an end after 2-3 hours and a graduation cake. We told Jenni's family goodbye as they headed back to the Louisville area and the rest of us, including Tim's family, headed to Ohio. It is so grand to have all of my sons living in Fairborn again! Hurray!
I know that not everyone has had such a day of celebration as they have suffered the losses of grandmothers, mothers, children, and others, making this Mother's Day a time of sadness and contemplation. You have been in our hearts and prayers. My mother and I especially shared thoughts and prayers for hers and Daddy's mothers (Margaret and Myrtle), my sister (Rachel), and our friends (Joyce and Jackie)! May everyone remember that the true joy in life is found in Christ and the love that God pours on us all. Lay up treasures in heaven!
